A few months ago my bone marrow started sending me messages.
The signals: I was always exhausted, pale, drained, and completely depleted of red blood cells. The lack of oxygen made me a serial yawner and spacier than a displaced Czarina. Little did I know, but my hemoglobin had fallen to levels where even a dedicated Blood sucker would turn their thoughts to revival. In between work and travel in India this year, I got a routine blood test and the results sent me to the hospital for a blood transfusion.
But not a reason to stop and, like, change my life?
The attempt to communicate probably started earlier. Time when I was ‘busy’. Building a career and impersonating myself. Travelling a lot and stock-piling impressions and drama and super hyped destinations and a life in ‘art’. So I couldn’t hear my marrow gently carbonating. Trying to get my attention. Instead of tuning in to my body, I tuned out like a landlocked pirate tuning out the sounds of the sea.
And then I stopped travelling and returned to Canada. Got myself tested by Dr Susy Lin, landed in emergency and eventually got full membership into the Cancer Club.
That’s how I found out I have Multiple Myeloma.
Cancer Club, Multiple Myeloma Division, June 2009.

LIVESHOCK: the recurring shock of being alive. More on this later.
Don’t get me wrong. Its true the deepest crises are moments of great opportunity. An event that shocks you into seeing with heart. A place from which to combine survival and celebration. Our boy Lance Armstrong called his Cancer survivor story: a Journey Back to Life.
I believe. But right now I’m a Cancer intern, covert social watcher and I’m doing all this against the backdrop of preparing to premiere two films at the Toronto International Film Festival and wondering if I should have cancelled that meeting with that director while bloated up on my ‘roids’ or I should have just come clean. ‘Yes- I have cancer. The meds shift the shape of my body in ways I can’t predict- but I can still perform torridly well and are looks really still that important in showbiz anyways? I have so much more to say now than ever before…’
Should have said it.
Didn’t.
But I’m writing this blog.
I’m not sure why and that’s probably the best beginning.
Many people become members of the cancer club. Loads of actors and artists struggle with a the capricious nature of our business. There’s lots of ‘coming home’ stories out there.
Maybe I’m just finally listening to my marrow.
I asked around if I should speak openly about getting diagnosed recently with Multiple Myeloma. Some advised me to keep my ‘condition’ a secret as it could negatively affect my career. Buh? I’m plumper, redder, more energetic and wily than ever before- Kiss me like I’ve been kidnapped!
Tara Maclean, surrogate sister and super talented singer, talked about how the role of an artist is to use every experience- especially the painful ones- and transform them by sharing.
Laura Simms my NY based professional Story teller/surrogate jewish mother highlighted the ‘pathology of perfection’ which we suffer from in this age. How celebrity culture and media create unrealistic expectations in ourselves and others and how perhaps sharing my experiences in preparing for the Toronto Film Festival juxtaposed with my ongoing chemotherapy and treatments could inform and loosen these expectations.
Ted Grand reminded me of the power of community and interconnectivity. Ted’s the founder/director of Moksha Yoga and introduced me to the concept of Sangha or a community with a common vision or purpose. Like on the days when your ‘yellow’ wattage is low and the chemo makes you feel like a nauseous mound of subcutaneous fat, well, it’s good to know that there are others feeling shitty in ways which only the Sangha can understand.
Then there is no getting around this message from Martha Katherine Smith Macgee:
My husband has Multiple Myeloma. If we had not had Myeloma Awareness and donations in the past, he would not be here after nine years and nine months. Thank you for what you have done and will do for Cancer Awareness.
Labelling and categorizing have their perils as well as their uses.
Sometimes there’s just stop. Find your corner, your own patch from which to speak. And follow the tug.

Besides. I like to work from this place right now. It’s easy to find.

We’ll be praying for you, Lisa! May God heal you, and make you stronger than ever.
Lisa,
Thank you so much for sharing this. Sadly, in our society/culture in general, and in the film world in particular, it has to take courage to do as you have done, and break the wall of silence. “Life is like this,” the Buddha taught.
I will pray for you, and send you my very deepest wishes for healing. I wanted to share this excerpt from the book I am currently working on. I hope it strengthens your resolve to live as authentically and openly as you have already shown yourself doing in these postings.
Again, thank you.
With much love,
frank jude
So why would the Buddha call duhkha a “Noble Truth?” What is true is real, and in his definition of duhkha he points to inescapable realities. As David Brazier writes:
“When the Buddha says that affliction (duhkha) is a truth, I do not think that he is saying that it is something which can be escaped. Quite the contrary. He is pointing out that it cannot be escaped. Duhkha is inescapable. To suffer affliction is authentic. It is real and it makes life real.”
Obviously we can escape from at least some particular afflictions. When hungry, we can eat; if we’re cold, we can wrap up etc. But there is no way to set up our lives so that affliction, duhkha will not occur. A life with no duhkha is an unreal life, purely conceptual. Remember, even when the axle is centered in the wheel, there is friction, without which, the wheel could not roll. Movement and life requires friction. Resistance is necessary. The very process of life requires duhkha! The very nature of The Middle Way, and how the Buddha came to realize it, embodies this understanding.
While not a very fashionable word nowadays (and not for lack of good cause, I suppose, given what we have been presented with as “nobility”) what is noble is what is worthy of respect. It is the opposite of something to be ashamed about. We know of, and have deep respect for, many people who bore great pain and suffering for worthy causes. Like the NYC firemen who rushed into the Twin Towers on 9/11/01, they may even have gone into situations knowing that they could very well be hurt or killed. Remember, the Buddha was from the warrior caste. He knew that the honorable soldier faces hardship out of nobility: “the possessing of high or excellent qualities or properties.”
There is an old story about a farmer who travels many miles to consult with the Buddha. Upon sitting at the Buddha’s feet, he tells the Buddha that he has 83 problems. The Buddha asks him about his problems. The farmer begins, “Well, I’m a farmer, and I love to farm. But last year we had a drought and we almost starved to death because of the meager harvest. This year, there was too much rain, and many of the crops were destroyed.”
The Buddha sat and sympathetically nodded his head. “Yes, go on.”
“Well, I love my wife very dearly, but I find myself growing bored and looking after other women.”
The Buddha continued to nod his head and encouraged the farmer to share his troubles.
“I have a son and a daughter. They’ve made me very proud. But they’re stubborn, and don’t take my advice,” the farmer continued.
After delivering his long litany of problems to the Buddha, he asked, “So can you help me? I hear you are a great teacher.”
The Buddha responds, “Well, it’s true you have 83 problems, and you haven’t even mentioned others like the fact that you are growing old and that you will die, and that everyone you know and love will also grow old and die.”
The farmer was aghast. Why wasn’t the Buddha helping him? Why was he loading on even more problems?
Then the Buddha said, “I cannot help you with any of those problems. But perhaps I can help you with the 84th problem.”
Exasperated, the farmer asks, “What is the 84th problem?”
“You want a life with no problems,” replied the Buddha.
We would like a life with no problems. Ideally, we would not grow old, infirm and die. We would not have to deal with such unpleasantness as losing our teeth, our eyesight growing dim, bad breath, wrinkles, graying and balding hair, let alone tumors, miscarriages, and the fact that, as the Golden Archies sing, “the number of ways to die is infinite.” We’d always be surrounded by the pleasant and beautiful. A true vision of heaven, and one traded on by both religions and advertisers. And because it’s not how our life actually is, we are led to feel shame. We actually feel shame when our body does something innocuously natural like fart, or when our bellies make gurgling noises, let alone when our skin wrinkles or becomes diseased! And because of this conditioned shame, we spend huge amounts of money, time and energy trying to deny the fact that we are not “perfect,” distracting ourselves in myriad ways. Whole industries, anti-aging products and body enhancing surgery, are devoted to this vain pursuit. We put on a front for the world and attempt to hide from ourselves our “imperfections” and infirmities because we have been made to feel shame. The Buddha tells us that “imperfection” is real and we do not need to feel ashamed. It is “perfection” that is purely conceptual and unreal. And because we’ve fallen for this deluded conceptualization of “perfection,” we then conceptualize the real world we live in as “imperfect!” In fact, facing duhkha is noble and ennobling. Not turning away, and not exacerbating it, is the noble response taught by the Buddha. This noble response to existential reality is enlightenment itself. It is transcending the conceptual duality of “perfection” and “imperfection” and embracing just this, life as it is, perfectly imperfect!
This means we do not have to wait for some “ideal conditions” in order to practice enlightenment. In fact, a theme that runs through Body of Peace is one that is central to the teaching of the Japanese Zen Master Dogen (1200 – 1252) who repeatedly teaches the identity of practice and enlightenment. We do not practice in order to reach awakening: practice is awakening and awakening is practice.
Took a big bite and glad I did. I have even more respect for you now, after reading this.
Your Beautiful in every sense of the word.
Love ur blog…keep up the cool work..
Dear Lisa,
I read your post about 3 hours ago and I started wondering about what I could say to you at this very moment. I sat down to have dinner with my father who is a doctor and asked him some questions about Multiple Myeloma. I already knew a little bit about it as my grandmother has been living with Multiple Myeloma for over 2 years. She was diagnosted after having a lot of pain in her back. But her stage was already very advanced, we decided not to tell her it was Myeloma although she could sense it was from the begining. We wanted her to focus on getting better as she was going through a very delicate period. She is a very wise woman my grandmother, she is very spiritual and sensitive, I admire her and love her with all my heart. When I was 9 years old my mother was diagnosted with stomach cancer and it was also a very advanced stage. She didn’t make it and soon passed away. The support of my father and my grandmother were very important to me. During the period my mother was sick I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and ever since that age I started to get interested in things that could bring me a spiritual return. That could inspire me.
The stage she is in now is stable, due to her age she can’t do much but she is completely lucid, she is still the same wise gradmother I’ve always known. She spends her time reading, watching tv and I will soon watch one of your films with her. I’m sure she will love Water! I cried for days when I put myself in Kalyani’s position. You played her beautifully!
Sorry if I wrote you a lot and bored you with my story but I just want you to know that I believe with all my heart you will go through all this and be so much stronger. I don’t know how is to be in your position but I believe with the support of the people that you love and people that wishes you only the best makes things have more sense. Positive energy is never too much and although I don’t know I’m sending you a lot of positive thoughts now.
I wish you all the strength and faith in the world.
Take care and thank you for sharing your story. I imagine it must have been hard for you to do it. I was very emotional to be honest, it touched me.
Greetings from Brazil!
All my best wishes,
Larissa.
If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.
Wow, what to say? I am saddened to hear this news, but glad for your outlook on it. Thank you for sharing something so personal with your fans, you will be in my prayers.
Much love and healing being sent your way from Austin Texas.

Hi~
I do love your movies, but your character moved me more than you know.
I believe, with such an inner strength, you could be on the stage with us audiances for a very long time, and which is really our greatest pleasure.
Best wishes.
Lisa, I just wanted to say I think you’re taking the right path, and that you’re being very brave about this. Speak out is hard sometimes, but is always better for your soul.
I hope you’ll find the way to balance what you want to do, with what you need to do for your health.
I know you will.
Oh, and just let me say, this is a great place to start.
All the best from the south of the globe.
Sabrina.
“Your problems don’t make who you are, how you deal with makes who you are”
Sharing what’s happening in your life is one way to affect the world in an amazing way and show others just how much they should appreciate their lives. I’ve done that and its shown me how much i’ve taken for granted in my life and shown me how difficult others have it. I look forward to seeing what comes your way through this and what great things you could have to share about struggling with something as scary as this.. I just recently went to the doctor after 7 years of not going to discover my kidneys are not at all looking good. I’m 16 and scared to death but its good to know that I’m not the only person dealing with hard things to over come and trying to find the positives in every corner of the world.

Lisa, dear Lisa Rani Ray…
Do you know what does Rani mean? It means QUEEN. And you, Lisa Rani Ray, you are simply “ The Queen of Light.”
First of all, thank you for sharing your very personal information about your health condition and I am glad you did; because I believe that by sharing your ‘secret’ not only that the burden of carrying ‘it’ was released off your shoulders, you will also be ready to receive life’s unexpected gifts and will be enriched with tremendous blessings.
After reading your message, even though we never met, I felt the urge to reach out and wanted to let you know that YOU WILL BE OK. YOU WILL BE CURED AND BECOME A MUCH STRONGER PERSON, FOR YOU ARE THE CHILD QUEEN OF LIGHT. (see, it’s written in the stars.)
Trust me, I am not being unrealistic. Of course, in order to get well you have to receive the necessary treatments, but your innocent spirit and your inner God/Goddess will protect you and heal you far beyond your imagination; all you have to do is BELIEVE.
Lisa, as I am sure you know by now, you are well loved by God and by all. Mahatma Gandhi once said, God is Life, Truth, Light, Love and The supreme Good. I know you will embrace this opportunity to rediscover yourself and the beauty of life.
By the way, do you know what does Lisa mean? It means “God’s promise”.
Have a fantastic week and good night.
All the best,
Sabrina @ SabrinaArtLab
cancer is an inevitable path to the death destination, i don’t want to sound too morbid but cancer has a cure—naturally not through chemicals. steroids can temporarily prevent your bones from crashing down–but it will affect your heart and taking too much antibiotics will ruin your liver.
My ex-mother-in-law is also fighting a series of cancer and never ending mushrooms of lump in her body ever since she’d undergone that laser surgery. Her doctor advised her to laser that huge lump in her ovary to prevent it from growing, i told them that the laser surgery will only multiply the lumps not melt it. But they didn’t listen. Afterwards they thought that their mother’s agony is done, they celebrated. But then not long after the doctor saw numerous lumps in diffrent areas of her body and it only became worse. Now she’s into a hell lot of chemotherapy and huge mound of antibiotics. Always in pain and always praying.
Your body is reacting to all the chemicals that you are intaking, like diet sodas, body lotions, perfumes, facial creams, processed food, cured chocolates and more that you don’t you know it’s hitting the soft spot in you.
Food, body application, derma related products and more are being created with strong chemicals to make it more effective (in a snap) and make people believe that they can be better from their how they exist in present.
avoid sodas, diet especially, candies, chocolates (natural cocoa will do) instant food and strong body and facial chemicals, leading brands of make-ups (which from your status is hard to avoid) you should also do some weight liftings and eat a lot of liver and veggies. Stay in morning sun for an hour and let your bones absorb it. (5/6/7am)
Doctors always recommend high dose of meds, it won’t cure us it’s just prolonging the agony and pain.
Natural method and organic way of living are always effective rather than chemicals.
If you always feel tired, drink at least one litre of water-lukewarm not cold.
I really admire your courage. We’ll spread out the word and help you fight the big C.
Cheers!
I am saddened and heart-broken by your news. Do know that many of us, your fans, are sending good thoughts and good vibes your way. If there’s any way that we could help and support, just let us know.
As a person with family members who have had cancer, I just want to say keep up the good fight.
P.S. loved you in I Can’t Think Straight and The World Unseen. Take Care.
“To be nobody but yourself in a world that’s doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are never going to fight. Never stop fighting” That is the first note on your website and I shouldn’t add anything to that. It’s clear enough.
But I’m not perfect so I do. It will be difficult for sure but you will live greater moments too cause you know the beauty of life. You can find it in a smile in the street, in the stars in the sky, some rest in the treatment, the moon giving light to the night, steroids sensations, crazy food at crazy times, a meal with friends….
Within a moment of tiredness, walking with a friend or someone you don’t know and speaking small talks, politic speeches or deeply feelings sounds nice. There’s always someone hearing you and making the difference.
You have moments of perfection in you everydays’ life. Whatever you’re doing, it’s your choice and your perfection. The part of the film/journalist/fans’ industry which can’t see it, doesn’t worth it. The part which cares of your work and you does. Focuse on that ones and on you. You’re someone special and with your roles, speeches and acts, you give a lot and deserve a lot. And if you want to celebrate, I keep a good bottle for you and wonderful cheeses we’ve got here ! 😉
Well I’m no good at writing. So let’s resume, every day is great and you’re great. Cheers.
Hi Lisa…you are really brave being open to this, sharing your life experience battling your cancer.that’s correct u don’t have to hide, its better to tell that u have cancer and doing something about it as well.by admitting its not a weakness its a strength and being true to yourself.
you’re strong woman, i do believe you can beat this up. with God nothing is impossible.God will give you strength and wisdom to beat this.
have more rest,don’t exhaust yourself.
I will always pray for you.take care love ya…
don’t rush too hard on yourself, we’ll always support you&applaud for you whether you’re on the red carpet or not!
It’s truth that cancer shows up without any sign. it the chaos of immunoglobin and has no cure in present day yet!
what we can to is fight with it!
don’t give up easily!
they said good will help the fight with disease!
please! be strong&smile.
we’ll always pray for you!
you should take good care of youself,, you have so many funs who caring about you, fighting with you and sharing all of ur emotions. we believe that everything will be fine!!
As a HUGE fan of yours, I am heartbroken to read about your condition. News such as this is never easy to process. Realizing how young you are and all the wonderful possibilities that still await you makes it harder to believe that this is true. I was truly in shock. But I soon realized that YOU are Lisa Ray: talented, strong, fierce, and determined. I am convinced that you will fight this cancer head-on. I think like any project you’ve taken on, this one will receive the attention no less than it deserves (and if it’s anything like your efforts in ‘Water’ or ‘The World Unseen,’ you’ve got it beat!). My admiration for you runs much deeper. Thank you for sharing your story (and your courage). I wish you well, Lisa. Take care.

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings about this dis-ease your body has taken on. The news startled me into remembering that we are not these physical bodies. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Remember that you are Light, you are Love, and You are loved.
Be the fighter you are.
Dear Lisa
you’re really the most powerful woman in my mind
pls be sure that you can make it and go through with it
yes you can !
i will give you my support you whenever and wherever i can !
blessing !
Hi Lisa,
I can’t tell you how much I’m fond of you. It’s not easy to learn the news. But thanks for this myelo? whatever, it makes you slow down your pace and now you’ll really take good care of your body. It’s a good thing in some way, isn’t it? You are courageous and optimistic, and disease is just afraid of this kind of patient. I believe everything will be fine. I believe in God, and I believe in you. Your fan from Taiwan.
The first thing I did after getting up today was read your blog with groggy eyes. And I re – read not convinced I had got the words right . I was shell shocked.
I had heard about you in different quarters , I saw ‘Bollywood Hollywood’ which well passed w/o even making the slightest echo. I dismissed you as just another actress.
Well , years later, older and wiser I happened to see ‘Water’ followed by ‘ICTS’. I couldn’t believe it was the same actress.
You so convincingly played the roles.
It started a week ago , my discovery of you. The girl I had seen in Afreen video , the movie kasoor which I never bothered watching. She actually left Mumbai when a dozen roles were waiting , she actually had it in her to take the less traveled road and to make meaningful celluloid.
Well , by taking that choice you have already lived up to your famous surname.
Today I felt completely unhinged at work. In between my office hours I kept googling learning in bits and pieces about myeloma.
This is an alien feeling . I don’t know you other than what I have read on www, but yet I couldn’t get logic make me feel better. I was painfully heartbroken .I have seen cancer at a very young age , and still I guess I have not graduated fully in coming to terms with it.
There were two rays today ,
The first one : From my co-worker “hey stop reading it over and over , she will have the best treatment . ” It may seem paranoid but when it comes to India well you have to deal much more financially than mentally.
The second one: My friend “Why are you so depressed.. if you get that stuff you will be the last person to feel upset .. you will just start living you life with more vigor ”
I know you are doing just that , you will live life fuller , brighter . No complains , no anger.
These stuffs , are pregnant pauses where in you just take note of the things you have pipelined all along . A comma never a full stop.
I was wondering why a twitter , why a blog . And now I know. Raising funds for further research is an important thing.
Life isn’t always fair , but we have quite outgrown that cribbing stage. Take what comes and live it your way.
Wish you all the best !
As Shamim put “And nice try, but you don’t get off that easily…”
Well. Wish you recover from this disease very soon and get normal and healthy. That’s all we can wish. God bless you dear.
I see why you were moved to Journalism – you write with such passion and clarity. Best of luck and look forward to reading your blog and thank you so much for sharing.
Dear Lisa,
I will pray for you, chant for you however it is,
I hope you feel better.
Random strangers who feel some connection because of roles you’ve played. You inspire me in some ways (through your acting) and now with this blog.
really rooting for you
send you sun-filled thoughts,
may the spring bring you equanimity and find you closer to health.
Hi Lisa
It is really sad that a bright actor like you (with stunning looks, not to forget) has been diagnosed with such a serious disease at such a young age! But determination can move mountains, and I hope you will prove this to the world yet again.
I wish you all the best for your cancer treatment.
Regards
Vijay

Lisa girl you are not just brave, you are genuine, funny as hell and beautiful, what a rare combination. Far rarer than your cancer even. As a young woman who is currently oscillating between feelings of desperation with father diagnosed with prostate cancer, and overwhelming relief that doctors have pronounced it in its earliest stages, I can imagine your swing of emotions. But all emotions are good at this stage, so my only unsolicited advice to you is: Allow yourself go through the rollercoaster of emotions but finally let only your spunk and positivity stay with you.
Keep us posted on your road to recovery.
Hugs
Arati
hi Lisa, I am not going to experess grief andd be sorry coz that means you have given up! I am here to tellyou something about your desease. This desease particulary attacks the plasma in your body which is the main carrier in your body for nutritions and as well as well as excretion. Now the universe has actually designed uor body and mind in such a way that they both are a reflection of eac other. Our body most of the times is the reflection of uor mind!!! Now the plasma in your body relates to your carreer or main supplier of your bread and butter and most importantly love- which could also be probably your love partner who has failed to give all th love and affection that u need.. Is it possible that probably you probably completely surrounded your life around something or someone, due to the outright failure of which has suddenly crushed you, andled to this sudden outbreak of desease? The point im tryng to make is that probably you have stopped loving yourself and havent forgiven someone due to which even excretion isnt functioning properly in your body? I know a woman who had blood cancer- who started believing and spiritualism and started meditating through which she started recognising her problems..she had a few problems in life that she could do nothin about and yet sub consciously kept worying abt it and in her body formed a tumor due to irregular multiplication of cells. Meditation a way to tao ur sub-concious thoughts and emotions and is a direction towards enlightenment. Enlightenemnt im sure you know is a state of undestructible happiness which is all that matters at the end of the day.
Are you really sick?? I can’t accoloade your bravery sufficiently. Death is easy but handling the knowledge of imminent death should be very difficult. You are very brave that you can handle such a difficult situation with so much of elegance and grace.
I hope that leaking this information is a publicity stunt by you to regain your fan following (although let me tell you that the species characterized by being a die hard fan of yours is not yet extinct) and that you will continue to entertain us for a long long time.
Am Shocked….
You are such a lovely & nice human being….
Am not here to give you sympathy, coz i know you are a fighter… & fighter’s need support, not pity &/or sympathy.
I wish you all the very best in this fight, & am sure you will come out a WINNER!!!
Good Luck & God Bless!!!!
Hello,
The word multiple milema has caught my attention in some daily news.
27 years back my mom rested in peace due to the same problem.
Probably she might have been alive, had they found her health problems at an earlier stage.
i was 3 when my mom was diagnosed with this cancer. She fought with it for couple of years and finally gave up.
I dont rememeber lot of things about her much except a few things, which are still fresh in mind.when i look back at her now,She was very educated(MA,ME) and was working as a Economics professor. She was brave(Fought with thiefs alone once with red pepper) and idealistic( i found out from her brother and my uncle).
She would have made a great wife, mom and citizen(I want a loving wife for my dad than a mother for me).
My life and my dads life(who lives alone in india) would have been so different had she been alive.
My dad and mom had great plans for their lives, they studied for 7 years after their marriage and lived separately until both got success in their careers.Unfortunately after that it lasted only 6 years.
It was a great loss for my father,It was unrecoverable and a burdensome journey for him after that.
The Agony and pain of the persons affected with cancer dies quickly with them, but their beloved ones carry it all along the way until they are alive.
I will pray for your beloved ones more than for you(They need more strength to overcome emotional and social problems)
Hopefully you will be treated and will walk with your loved ones along their life.
Fight for them! Dont forget this at any moment..have more discipline on your lifestyle than every.
More than the drug/treatments.it is your discipline that helps you defeat it.
I know you have a great name.It is sometimes best to be nothing Individually,But be something for someone!
Hi lisa,
I was shocked to hear the news, I am very fond of you from the song Afreen Afreen, my best wishes are with you, and keep on preying to god!!!
take care of yourself!!
regards
abhijit
Hello,
First, let me say, I am very pleased with you as a person. Not because of your beauty, but because you possess a very rare quality for people of such good looks, and that is (based on your interviews) you have chosen to work at your personality in a positive way. When watching your interviews, I am elated how you are very insiteful, thoughtful, and genuinely concerned at how your actions through your work affects others. THAT is the BEST quality any human being can possess, concern for others, considering them when maing decisions, and treating them as you want to be treated.
I speak of this because when a person looks as good as you do, for every “No” that someone gives you, you get 100 “yes.” This, by default, …unfortunately…. creates a not-so-nice attitude in beautiful people (many refer to them as b**ch). But to take the time to listen to the person that said “No” and to not dismiss them as irrelevant is an extremely rare quality, albeit, vitally necessary. You have captured that quality and it is that desire you have for self-improvement, self-discovery, and genuine concern for others that will bring you to your remission.
I suffer from lupus, was diagnosed in 2000, and have JUST come to terms. It took a while because I was very athletic, but for years I could barely walk. The mental battle has often overshadowed the physical battle. But by allowing God to change me and to bring out the caring and loving person inside, I have come to love me and it is that love that has led me to my remission. It will do the same for you.
My prayers are with you, like so many others. Prayers are extremely important despite whatever a person’s spiritual affiliation, because it is a simple yet powerful means of sending massive amounts of positive thoughts of healing specifically for you.
Be blessed, Lisa, and continue to do what you’re doing to get well.

Dear Lisa
This is probably the only conversation I am going to have with you so I will try to put up everything in here once although its difficult.
I know you through you work only and have seen you only in publications. I saw an image of you in HT cafe on the front page a few days ago and it was about your new movie. I was immensely happy and equally envy about the success you have achieved since the Bombay Dyeing times. I have not followed your success consciously but every time you made a public appearance, no one could ignore that pretty face, not even a child of 10 years. And today I woke up only to realize that you have cancer. I was terrified and shocked not only to the fear that the world might lose you, I felt as if I have lost some part of myself. I have grown up with you and many more have. This unfortunate news has really left us crying within.
But then, I think that you are the one who didn’t cry and who is affected the most. Your strength gives us a hope and a new energy to at-least make an attempt to fight.
Whatsoever might be in the future, I wish you to live in present and make the most of it.
I will pray for you and your family. I shall always be beside you.
It ain’t over till its over.
With lots of love.
sigh, i am so heartbroken to hear this news. Just the other day i was thinking about you, how beautiful and talented you are! Just a few days ago, I was telling my friends that God has made such a masterpiece. There is this old Chinese proverb, it says if a girl is too beautiful, then the Gods will be jealous of her and something bad will eventually happen to them. and today I hear about this news. 😦
I really don’t know what to say except be strong and fight for it. i think meditation will help. I’ve heard many stories where incurable diseases are cured by meditation. A close friend of mine here in Toronto cured her back pain through meditation and she’s lived with back pain for over 20 years, even the doctors have told her there’s nothing they can do about it, she’ll have to learn to live with pain but after a few months of meditation she’s able to cut her medication by half, now two years later she’s completely cured her problem. I think the fact that you teach Yoga is really going to help with your condition.
I wish you all the best and will be thinking of you all the time. It’s amazing that you are my favorite actress and also you are so close to me, cuz I live in Toronto too. I am thinking of going to see the TIFF this year, will you be there?? I would love to meet you in person some day.
Take care of yourself.
May God bestow you full recovery, Amen.
You are truly strong with peerless and beautiful soul.
I love you very much and if there is anything I can do
for you, I will be honoured.

Hi Lisa,
Just wanted to pass on this info since I wanted to try helping you. Just check on these treatments available as they claim superb results..
http://cancercurable.com/ This guy Munir Khan claims that any cancer is curable and we get to see testimonials from his patients cured from cancer on few Indian TV channels as well.
http://pranajeewa.com/ & http://www.sethsuva.com/ They sell an oil called pranajeewa which is based on herbal formula dated some 3000 years as claimed. This oil helps in overall health and brings balance to everything as claimed.
This is just an info as I have not tried these.

Hi Lisa,
I read about your news in the newspaper today. I was shocked to see that. Wish you recover as soon as possible from this disease and hope we will see our LISA RAY back soon. I guess I don’t have anything more to say at this time. Take care of your health 🙂 … and may GOD bless you if someone like that exists 🙂
Dearest Lisa…
i dumb-stuck and shocked beyond words when i read about ur condition, u r one of the loveliest person i have ever seen, i will pray to SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY of Mantralayam in Andra Pradesh, for ur miraculous cure…i am sure he will be listening, i pray and prayed like never b4 for ur quick recovery. Lisa, me, like, millions of ur fans all over the world will pray for ur health and long life. God indeed is jealous of beautiful people…
Respected Lisa madame,
You will be able to fight against cancer.Take natural food and fruits.Do YOGA everyday.Forget about cancer.
Prayers for you Lisa. I have a close one fighting with cancer here. It’s such a terrible feeling to know that the most b’ful people in the world have to fight the worst of diseases.
You are a fighter !! I am sure you’ll send the devil to remission soon ….. I send all my positive energies to you……
Nonsense, Just get hold of a good classic Homeopath and you will live,,,no I am not kidding & this is not some joke..Homeopathy works differently & the world at large is unaware,,if the Homeopath is able to pick the single correct remedy for you, your level of health is raised to an extent that every disease, health issue – both known n unknown cease to exist. I must add that majority of Hoemopaths out there are not correctly trained/ not really smart enough to understand this seemengly miraculous system, so do some goundwork- ask around, however there are a good number of them in Bombay.
Good luck
Deepak from Bangalore
This might be hard to stomach & digest.
An easier cure would be meeting & going through with diagnosis & treatment via Ayurveda.
I’ve spent 8 years in the US & almost ran into you during a visit you made in Houston.
I moved back to India on a Spiritual Calling.. and funny thing is all the fitness, nutrition, health & medical knowledge I had acquired in the west, seemed infantile compared to Ayurvedic systems.
Ayurveda does not believe in diseases but about balance & imbalance in the inherent system that manifests as symptoms of a disease.
If you’re curious, feel free to drop me a line and I can guide you forward. Or.. Just try to find someone trust worthy on that side of the continent.
PS: I saw a close friends dad pass away because of a marrow & platelets related condition. I wish I had a chance to guide them.
Hello,
Its really sad to hear this. But life can throw anything at any point of time. And sure the fight will be painful. But when you look back after winning it over u will sure feel the happiness which no amount of money or anything can give.
Thanks to the advancement in medical world. You will live long and we will sure see a lot of movies from you.
I pray god to give all the strength physically and mentally.
Just keep taking the treatment and be happy.
Sabharatnam
Hello Lisa,
I have very strange feeling right now communicating directly with you and knowing the fact that you’ve been diagnosed with incurable cancer. I watched your movie “Water” today you were so graceful. It really pains me to see young, beautiful and talented people like you going through such pain.
Your blog post shows you are strong and want to use your condition for the benefit of others. I wish you triumph in your battle with cancer and I hope you don’t feel any pain.
Take care and best wishes from Pakistan.
Dear Lisa. Life is such, it is never fair.
But your attitude is encouraging. I know a friend of mine who is dealing with it. He got his complete blood changed and its more than 5 years and he is still living and functioning very well as a president of a university. So you are right, it may not be curable but it is treatable and…. who lives for ever?
Please take care of yourself well; correct lesson of life is to live it to fullest and not to the longest. I know it is easier said than done and it is easy to give advice but then…. what else could be said?
Words of despair and gloom have no place in this courageous princes’s blog.
I am going to be with you as your sanghi and will read your blog every day and respond and will keep you in my prayers.
Regards and affectionately,
Anjana
Hi Lisa,
we’ve always admired the Lisa Ray – the gorgeous woman from the days of the garden vareli Ad. Now we’ll have even greater admiration for Lisa Ray – the fighting spirit in you. Must add that it was quite a painful news. I guess its in these moments that a person needs to know how much he/she is admired.
keep on keeping on until the day breaks and the shadows flee.

Hi Lisa,
Don’t give up girl, fight, and all our prayers and wishes are strength with you.
Lisa, my wife abt 8 years back, suffered fm reactive arthiritis, and it took nearly 10 months before she was diagonised. After a lot of trial medication and two hemoglobin injections a day for almost 6 months and heavy on pain killers, and monthly 10day hospitalisation every month….. the treatment goes on n on….. it was out of the blue one day, that someone told me of Ayurveda medications, fm Kottakal (Kerala, INDIA). We went there for the medications and treatment, and after 8 months fm that first ayurved medication, she was totally out and clear, and has been so, ever since…….
We have recommended this place to quite a few people we know, and 99% have come back positive and cured……
Warning: the medications have a foul odour and some of them taste horrible…… but then, its worth, it cause if it helps, then nothing like it…..
You Pls take good care of you, and you will be in our special prayers daily……
GET WELL SOON GIRL

To,
Lisa and others who are having this disasterious disease
can be cured ,.not only this but other cancer’s also can be cured.
Please visit at google :Graviola tree, this gives all the information regarding cure for cancers.
one of their reasearch says:
The Soursop Fruit
The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural
cancer cell killer
*10,000 times stronger than Chemo*.
Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make
back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic
version of it for sale.
So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know
or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time.
The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has
no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden.
The other parts of the tree are also useful.
The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.
How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed
the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?
This tree is low and is called graviola in Brazil , guanabana in Spanish and
has the uninspiring name “soursop” in English. The fruit is very large and
the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to
make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.
The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer
effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is
its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven
cancer remedy for cancers of all types.
Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial
agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against
internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for
depression, stress and nervous disorders.
If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the
existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you,
it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree.
The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon
Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your
doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances
of survival. The future has never looked more promising.
Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be
possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that
does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life
The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of
America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, the fruit of over 20 laboratory tests
conducted since the 1970’s! What those tests revealed was nothing short of
mind numbing… Extracts from the tree were shown to:
* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer,
including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the
growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic
drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola
tree selectivelyhunts
down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells!
The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been
extensively researched–so why haven’t you heard anything about it? If
Graviola extract is as half as promising as it appears to be–why doesn’t
every single oncologist at every major hospital insist on using it on all
his or her patients?
The spine-chilling answer illustrates just how easily our health–and for
many, our very lives(!)–are controlled by money and power.
Graviola–the plant that worked too well
One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a
cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing
tree from the Amazon Rainforest.
Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit
and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native
Indians in South America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and
arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company
poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous
properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a
cancer-killing dynamo.
But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.
The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely
natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make
serious profits from it.
It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to
synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients.
If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola
so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they
hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no
way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it
poured into research.
As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a
screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and
chose not to publish the findings of its research!
Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team
whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his
career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants
from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.
Miracle unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news
of Graviola, they began tracking the research done on the cancer-killing
tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking
cover-up–came in fast and furious….
….The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in
1976. The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found
effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the
results were published in an internal report and never released to the
public…
…Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer
in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials–the
typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a
treatment’s value–were ever initiated…
….A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent
study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one
chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at
“10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug)
Adriamycin…”
….The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea
report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells,
leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately
targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells),
causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer
patients.
…A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola
tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially
effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung
cancers… Seven years of silence broken–it’s finally here!
A limited supply of Graviola extract, grown and harvested by indigenous

My mother was barely 40 when she was diagnosed with MM. She is 54 now and doing okay. She is a school’s principal and owner you can imagine the kind of hectic schedule she has. i know you will be getting lot of advice regarding the treatment but here is from my mother’s experience. Take 10 mg of turmeric everyday as medicine as the curcumin in turmeric helps with the disease.
Hi Lisa,
I was 9 when I had ITP, tons of cortisone and I was round like a ball. after you stop it you go back to normal. Wishing you all the best. Keep the faith. keep us informed, we will be reading and praying for you

Lisa,
Looks like you are blessed person. Whatever is happening to you is happening for a reason.
The fact that you are young is a huge plus for you.
My suggestion is accept what is and treat the dis”ease” as friend rather than enemy. Because friends are friendly and they are always helpful.
Show the world that nothing is impossible.
cheers
Ram
Have a Speedy Recovery

Now that you have cancer, which i feel sorry about…you have to think about the purpose of this life…please read the following, i hope it will be beneficial to you..
People everywhere are asking the questions; “What is the purpose of life?” and “Why are we here?” You might be amazed to learn, that Islam is providing clear and concise answers for these questions.
Most of those who reflect or think about life in any detail will consider and ponder these questions. There are as many different answers to these questions as there are people asking the questions. Some would hold that the purpose of life was to acquire wealth. Yet suppose they were to acquire millions of dollars, what then would they claim is their purpose after doing so?
If the purpose of life is to become wealthy, there would be no purpose after becoming wealthy.
The fact is that when people approach their purpose here in this life from the aspect of only gaining wealth, after collecting the money they have dreamed of their lives loose purpose and then they live in restless tension suffering from a feeling of worthlessness.
How could wealth then be considered as the aim of life?
Could the acquisition of wealth guarantee happiness? Of course not.
When we hear of millionaires or members of their families committing suicide, how could we consider the purpose of life would be to gain great wealth?
A child of 5 years would obviously prefer a new toy to a deposit slip for a million dollars.
A teenager does not consider millions of dollars in the bank a substitute for movies, videos, pizza and hanging out with his friends.
A person in their 80s or 90s would never consider holding on to their wealth in place of spending it to hold on to or regain their health.
This proves that money is not the main purpose at all the stages of one’s life.
Wealth can do little or nothing to bring happiness to one who is a disbeliever in Almighty God, because regardless of what he or she would gain in this life they would always live in fear of what will happen to them in the end. They would wonder what would become of them and how they would end up.
Wealth and its accumulation as a purpose would be doomed to a temporary success at best and in the end it would only spell out self destruction.
So, what is the use of wealth to a person without belief? He would always fear his end and would always be skeptical of everything. He may gain a great material wealth but he would only lose himself in the end.
Worship of the One True Almighty God of the Universe [Allah in Arabic] as a primary goal or aim in life provides a believer with everything he needs to succeed in both this life and the Next Life.
The word for total surrender, submission, obedience, purity of heart and peace in the Arabic language is “Islam”. Those who try to perform these actions are called “MU-slims” [Islam-ERs].
To a Muslim the whole purpose of life is “ibadah” or worship to the One True Almighty God on Terms and under His Conditions.
The term “worship” to a Muslim includes any and all acts of obedience to Almighty Allah.
So his purpose of life is a standing purpose; Worshipping Allah by accepting Allah’s Will over his own.
This act of ibadah [worshipping, thanking and extolling the Greatness Almighty Allah on His Terms and Conditions] is for the Muslim, throughout his whole life regardless of the stage. Whether he is a child, adolescent, adult or aged person, he is seeking after the Will of the Almighty in all these stages.
His life here on earth although short, is full of purpose and is totally meaningful within the complete framework of total submission [Islam].
Similarly, in the Next Life as well, his faith, intentions, attitudes and good deeds will all be weighed into his account as favorable putting him in high esteem with his Creator and Sustainer.
Because Islam teaches that this life is only a test or trial for the individual to show him his true nature it is only natural that he would accept death as not so much an ending to everything but more as a beginning of the final and lasting life in the Hereafter.
Before entering into either of the final lodging places i.e.; Heaven or Hell, there must needs be a Day of Judgment or showing of one’s true self to make them aware of their own nature and thereby understand what they have sent on ahead during the life here on the earth.
Every person will be rewarded [or punished] according to their attitude, appreciation and efforts during this stay on earth. None will be asked about the actions and beliefs of others, nor will anyone be asked regarding that which he was unaware of or incapable of doing.
As the life here is considered as an examination for the individual, the death stage is considered as a resting period after the test. It could be easy for those who were faithful and dedicated or it could be grueling and horrible for the wicked.
Reward and punishment will be in direct proportion to each person and it is only Allah, alone who will be the Final Judge over us all.
So in the teachings of the True Surrender, Submission, Obedience, In Sincerity and Peace to the Almighty One God [Islam], the line of life and its purpose is logical, clear and simple:
The first life is a test
The life in the grave is a resting or waiting place before the Day of Judgment
The Day of Judgment brings about the clear understanding of what will now happen to the individual based on his own desires and actions
The Permanent or Afterlife will either be spend in luxurious splendor or miserable punishment .
Following this clear understanding of life, the Muslim’s purpose is clear.
First of all, he has no doubt in his mind that:
he is only created by Allah
he is going to spend a period of time in this material world [called “Ad Dunyah” in Arabic]
he knows he will die
he knows he will spend time in the grave, either pleasant or difficult depending on his own choice of attitude and actions
he knows he will be resurrected for the Day of Judgment
he knows he will be judged according to the most fair of standards by Allah the Almighty, the All
Knowing he realizes his attitude and actions are going to come under very close scrutiny
he knows that this short life compared to the Eternal Life was in fact, only for a test
This life is very meaningful and purposeful to the Believing Muslim, as he realizes that it will determine is outcome and permanent position in the Next Life.
The Muslim’s permanent purpose is to Surrender, Submit, Obey, in Purity and Peace to Allah the Almighty, carrying out His Orders and staying in some form of worship to Him as much as possible everyday.
This includes the orders of Allah in His Book, the Holy Quran and His final Messenger and Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him as follows:
Believing and declaring that “There is no god throughout all the Creation of Allah that is worthy of worship, all worship is due only to Allah, alone and He has no partners or helpers nor does He share His Lordship with any of His creations. And Muhammad, the son of Abdullah ibn Abdul Mutallib (1450 years ago) is the last and final messenger and servant of Almighty Allah, and is the culmination in a long line of prophets sent to mankind throughout man’s history, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus Christ, may Almighty Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon them all.”
Establishing the regular five times ritualistic prayer [salat] in the stated times (in the mosques for the men when possible)
Paying the charity tax [Zakat = about 2.5% of one’s holdings – not his income, annually]
Fasting the month of Ramadhan [lunar calendar]
Pilgrimage to the House of Allah in Mecca at least once in the life of the person, provided he has the ability and the way is safe
For a disbeliever the purpose of this life is to collect and amass great wealth, money, power and position. Over indulging in eating, drinking, drugs, sex and gambling are a high priority to them. But all of this will not avail them anything good in the grave, on the Day of Judgment or in the Next Life. Eventually he will be faced with the question:
Now what?
What’s Next?
Where am I going?
What will happen to me?
He will come to know. For sure he will come to know. But then what will the knowledge avail him?
Look how Islam solves the mystery of the puzzle of life. It provides the answers to the questions and concerns of the human beings on all levels and in every aspect. It is really quite simple.
The purpose of life as understood by the Believing Muslim can be simply stated in only two (2) words:
Obey God.
Our only purpose and salvation lie in these two words.
We must come to know our Creator, Sustainer and Ultimate Judge. We must learn to believe in Him, thank Him, praise Him, honor Him and worship Him, alone without any partners from His Creation. We must learn about His Messengers and Prophets, peace be upon them, and the message with which they were all sent. We must learn the Word of God as was directly revealed, preserved and memorized and passed down by memory throughout all the generations of Muslims to the present day.
Those who are in search of truth, having open minds and hearts will recognize this as a message in truth and sincerity. Open your heart and your mind now and ask the Almighty God of the Universe [Allah] to guide you now to His True Way. And then be ready to accept your true purpose in life.
She was on a mission, to cry her eyes out and talk to death.
She went outside and took what she hoped would be her last breath.
Sitting in a chair, she felt too alone.
So she went down and sat in the two seated swing in front of her home.
She rocked back and forth, as she slowly let loose and cried.
She blasted music in her ears, as she slowly wished she could have already died.
The rain slowed, and she asked for a sign.
She doesn’t believe in God, keep that in mind.
But she looked up to the sky, and told him it was now or never.
She looked down to the ground, and didn’t believe she’d find one, not ever.
The rain poured down, in two heavy little pokes.
She looked over her shoulder to the other seat, and listened to the tree frogs’ croaks.
Nobody was there, yet she didn’t feel by herself.
She looked toward the mountain, and suddenly felt like she needed help.
Clouds had covered it, before her silent prayer.
And now as she looked, she found the mountains were there.
She could no longer cry,
But she wanted to still, that was no lie.
So she sat there, staring into space.
And the raindrops came and took the tears’ place.
Down her eyes they slid off her chin.
Tonight wasn’t the night for her last sin.
She looked once again to her right.
She swore an angel was with her tonight.
“Dear Angel, you might be a sign, but I need a stronger one.”
Was all she said, before the cold air made her numb.
She got up and started walking to the door.
She was convinced there was nothing worth living for anymore.
But as the door slid open, the rain came down fast.
And it suddenly seemed that her breakdown was a thing in her past.
She came back to a message from the only friend that seemed to really care.
She read the words quiety, and continued to stare.
Rest assured, she told the friend she was fine.
She told her death had given her an offer, but for some reason she had given a decline.
The friend told her how much she cared and how much she meant.
And that’s when the girl started to believe her friendly angel was Heaven sent.
Then one more friend took her mind off of the tough time.
He made her smile, and at the same time made sure everything was fine.
And that’s when it hit her, that’s when she realized the truth was fair.
There was always a reason to live, and her reason was right there.

A lonely seagull flies the winds
Majestic… soaring…gliding wings
A single screech sounds from the sky
Come fly with me… come here and fly
My spirit floats to be a part
I feel the beating of its heart
My soul, one with this bird of sea
Now knows the meaning to fly free
I feel the winds caress my soul
And soar the streams without a goal
My being trembles of delight
A treasure I received tonight
The seagull’s flight of soaring high
The gift of what it means to fly

I been on the various internet post, to lookout your videos and pictures.
Its was noon, when i wake up and checked the TOI, i suddenly felt land sliding my feet below. yes the news of yours, caught in Cancer…believe me that was the one of the sad new i ever had ever since some terror attacks. even shocking was the type of the cancer you caught in.
I pray the lord for giving you the life which every human is expected to live with joy and happiness…
Journey of my mind still pending…
The heart is wound yet not healed up.
My aches were not filled with care
A tear touches another tear..
Mind still not woke up…
Love that left in the middle of journey…
My feelings and Emotions are in dilemma
Emotions has to live up or wipe off
Mind still restless…
Those care that tenderly love I deserve?
My life goes behind the curve
Journey of my love still pending…
Even I don’t know where I would be landing…
Again the fruit of love ripe off
Now mind behave diplomat
Feelings are confused…
Mind still abused…
Is Feelings and emotions again revive
Is it so?
Mind never takes rest…
Journey of my life still survive
Life is churning, the never ending journey
journey of my life still pending….
journey of YOUR life is still pending…

Lisa.. right now I just dont know what to say… I just arrived home from the cinema after watching ‘I cant think straight’… & On my way back, all along, I was thinking about how beautiful u were, in the movie, in afreen & in every video i’ve seen of yours..n how breathtaking & mesmerising every action of yours & every moment of seeing you was(to me.. ive dis die hard crush on you since i saw u in afreen..n nw m 22)…
As soon as I reachd home, i told my mom hw beautiful you were in the movie but that’s when my mom broke the news to me(abt you..she had read it in the news..)
I just couldn’t take it in…It just wouldn’t sink in.. Then I came online n here I am at your blog, reading your account…I wanted to talk to you, to make you omnipresent in my atmosphere… I wanted to talk to you not like a fan to a celebrity, but like a man who would want to experience everything you stand for, everything you are, like you become the air that I breathe…but it aint possible coz you are far far away in every sense except one – that I want & would always want it to be otherwise.
You’re the sort of woman who i wish would get everthing good that this world has to offer, who i wish would experience the essence & beauty of life embracing her…I wish for your life to be a bed of roses… & I can’t bear life’s betrayal…So unfair… M sorry if this letter seems depressing coz that cant even ever be the last thing I’d wish for…
(& maybe some 70 years later i’ll meet you in heaven
& talk to you all I can, that I couldn’t on earth coz maybe then you wouldn’t be so far away & maybe age, time, distance, familiarity wouldn’t matter then & maybe all dreams would come true..maybe…most earnest & wholehearted, optimistic ‘maybe’)…
Please live happily & to the fullest…I will keep visiting your blog & reaching out for every silken thread your voice & every color of your being in your expression…
I fervently pray for you & Wish with all the hope & strength I can muster, & with my heart & soul that you get well soon somehow…
n stay on earth at least a second longer than i do…
Love you more than ever Lisa…
Hi Lisa,
Well, I do not know what to say. Whether to console you or to give you suggestion. My mother had cancer and we did everything for her, but could not save her. The last time when she had visited Mumbai for her regular check up, the doctor had told her that she was fine and she could live for 10 more years without any doubt. But, to our shock her cancer spread all over her chest and we lost her in the next 4 months. The only way, I feel to fight this disease is to think positive and keep yourself away from depression….
You know what, we human being are meaning making machine and when we figure out that we have been diagnosed of something bad, the negativeness within us starts killing us by making us think the same thing over and over again. Moreover, I know that you are strong and have the courage to fight against the odds; thats why you have revealed this to everyone. But, I would just like to say believe in God and we all have our days numbered, be it me or you or anyone else. The day we are born, we start off with our journey and also start walking towards our death. It’s just that we do not think that we are moving towards our death. Each and every moment the time of our being in this earth is reducing, not increasing. We all know that, but realise it only when someone tells us that we are diagnosed of something and then this thought of death comes in our mind and we start killing ourselves thinking over it again or again..
We all wear a mask of good looking, but I am happy you are not doing that as you have revealed the truth of your life to everyone. And we all are with you. One thing that I would like to suggest is do PRANAYAM that help a lot. I have seen people getting cured of cancer or heart problem and many other diseases. The only thing that you need to do in it is some exercise for a particular duration and then carry on with your normal life. Ramdev baba in India has made a great mark in this field and I have seen this yoga making a difference in my family and in others family too. And being it just yoga there is no side effects but there are only benefits. So, I will request you to try out as I know it will help you a lot and you will benefit from it like anything. I am a big fan of your and I like of very much, that’s why I am saying all these things to you. No other reason. Anyway you take care of yourself and God Bless You and live life to the fullest and as you like to travel and want to watch each and every corner of this world, I will suggest you live it the way you want to live it — as life is now, not tomorrow.
Life is now, and not tomorrow– we all have dreams in life and want to do and achieve many things. But, we keep them pending saying that once I achieve something I will go and work on my dream. That never happens! Basically, we get so very busy in our work that we do not get the time to work on our dream. We basically have our past kept in front of us and we work for our future. So everyday the past is in front of us and that rules our future. So, the best thing to do is to live life now and do whatever you want o do, rather than waiting for the right time to come. Time is right all the time. It is our actions and situations that make it right or wrong for us. Or rather it is the situation and our thoughts that decide whether time is right or wrong. But, I will say time is always right. So, adios and I am just a mail away. If you want to share anything or get information on any other thing just let me know. I know there are lot other who are there to help you out, but still who knows “Kaun kab Kam ajaya”… Adios and Keep smiling :0)
Hi,

Lisa you have the right spirit. This can be and should be beaten. You can be a great example for the others too. Pls read this till the end.
I am a big fan and after I read about this in the news I immediately checked out your blog.
Coincidentally, I read a book by Lance Armstrong – famous cyclist who won the Tour de France after battling cancer for a year at the age of 25. One must read his story to know how he got out of it and has been cancer free for several years now.
Having read his book – the one big take away was that he and his dear ones really read up on how to beat the cancer. I dont know anything about the cancer condition you have Lisa. But I do know through other sources in addition to Lance’s book i.e. Its not about the bike, that cancer can really be beaten with more and more info.
Seems you read a lot ( i love your writing) this should not be a problem for you. In addition to the association you must have established with various well known people and foundations that have more info, my guess only as a fan is that there are a bag of tricks lying there somewhere. You have gotta find em and then beat this “rare” thing. Btw Lance was later told he had a less than 1% chance. Basically the docs had given up. He has got out of it, won the biggest races and endured some of the most difficult physical challenges and stayed cancer free for years now. Miracles do happen.
There are several people who have come out if this condition. I am sure you can too. You have a great spirit. Please do not lose it. Keep at it. Read voraciously on this. I dont know what else to write. Im rambling on and on.
I am sure you will be back in shape when you are out of this and will look even prettier than you did.
All the best. Hope this message reaches you.
just loved you from d monent i watched your song with daler mehandi (har taraf tera jalwa)…then loved u in kasoor…bt nw i admire u even more after reading ur blog..its very inspiring………….u are a fighter and will definitely b a winner…. may god bless you and dont ever lose your hope…keep fighting…ill b praying for you.

Hi, Lisa
My daughter mentioned to me tonight that she’d read about you on the Sympatico website. I felt I had to take a couple of minutes to write a letter of encouragement. I laughed at your wonderful wit, especially your description of your port-a-cath. When my husband had his Hickman put in, the doc seemed to be in a bit of a hurry as he had a meeting to attend in a short while, and this is generally a pretty routine procedure. Well, he had to just about stand on his head to get my hubby’s in (large barrel chest). Leon made some joke “I guess you’re going to be late for the meeting, eh?” One nurse started to laugh, turned and left. Then Leon suggested that the doc might insert some bolts into his neck – that it would make a great Halloween costume. The other nurse crossed her legs, turned and left, shoulders shaking in laughter.
I can hear you so clearly as you joke about your moon face and neuropathy, etc. I’ve been there, seen that. We used to joke about the ‘roid days. The family would go into hiding almost to avoid our “chatty Cathy”. Leon was always a social butterfly, but add Dex to the menu and he was unstoppable. And not sleeping through the nights? Yep, I remember that too. He’d be emailing his co-workers at 3 or 4 in the morning. What else are you going to do? Just go with it, it doesn’t last forever.
Treatments have varied some over the last 12 years, and you are probably starting out on a different treatment regimen than he did. After feeling lousy for a couple of years, they finally diagnosed him. He had minimal bone involvement and his IgAs weren’t extremently high, so they monitored him for another 4 months to see if it was indolent. It began to rise and he did VAD for 6 months, followed by cyclophosphamide and total body radiation, then an autologous transplant. It was tough, with each subsequent chemo month getting progressively harder, but the resulting 4-1/2 years of complete remission with NO meds whatsoever were fabulous.
More treatments and 5-1/2 more years followed. Like yourself, he wielded humour like a weapon against the disease. Like you, he shared his story with co-workers and friends. Support came from unexpected places. Conversely, others we thought we be of more support couldn’t seem to cope. It’s all okay.
You are wise to follow Dr. Galal’s advice about mixing the two fields of treatment (western and, for lack of a better word, naturopathic). Go with one for now, and when remission is achieved, you may consider the other. Be wary, though. A well-meaning friend of ours strongly recommended Essaic tea. We talked to the pharmacist at Juravinski Cancer Centre, and she said that Essaic tea was indeed good for small mass tumours, but definitely not for myeloma. It boosts the immune system, which is part of the problem. It’s already working overtime in myeloma and doesn’t need any additional help.
The moon face doesn’t last forever, you will drop the weight once the steroids are done, and you will appreciate each day you live.
You are raising awareness of this type of cancer, and hopefully more treatments or even a cure are in the not-to-distant future. Your openness and engaging humour in sharing your journey will help you and others cope. Fighting cancer is, obviously, a very personal battle – you against “The Cancer”, but you do not battle alone. Your family and friends and faith are with you every step of the way.
I like your outlook and it will serve you well. “The Cancer” takes enough of a chunk of your life (doctor’s visits, chemo, etc.) without dwelling on it one bit more than you have to. Life your life, blog, enjoy the good days, get through the not-so-good days, and keep that sense of humour.
One last bit – A couple of weeks before my husband passed away (we didn’t know this would be his final battle), he was in day chemo doing pheresis. As he began to unbutton his shirt so the nurse could access his port, she asked what he though he was doing with his mini strip tease. She’d forgotten that he had a port, and he replied without missing a beat, “I thought I’d show you my new nipple ring.” She laughed. I laughed and he gave a great big grin.
May you be blessed with his strength and your own sense of humour, now, in the coming months and for as long as it takes you to beat “The Cancer”.
All the best, Ann Kolkin
Hello Lisa,
Good morning Lisa.
I die to live every day.Donot think of me conversing with u as a coincidence. This coversation is dated and on that day it will be shown to u in a flashback.
You will be in touch with people from different faiths ,belifs and ofcourse the secular word which will talk of sympathising and will ask you to be determined, dont give up,dont be depressed and so on.
As said every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
What I know is the GOD I call is a living god.
No one has to go thru anyone to know him
Its ur call ,its ur connection with him.
You may find several spiritual leaders – but as a normal human being we cannot find weather he carries clean or unclean spirit.
But I call to a GOD who is living and he answers me.
OH how wonderful when u hear from him.
As thru a blog I cannot make u understand because if I start then it has no stoping and it will be all real life experiences.
As I say What I know is the GOD I call is a living god.
This is all what Benny Hinn,Kathryn Kuhlman,Billy Graham
talks about.
Attend any of these crusades beliving in god and get healed.
I mean “GET HEALED – Its not a joke
GO AND GET HEALED – U UNDERSTAND THAT!
“God will not take the driving seat of ur car,He can but he will not…………………Allow him to to take the driving seat then be at the backseat and see the journry”
Its hard to talk about these things and sound truthful in our cynical age………..However u belived and u survived.
Trinity – Father lord,Holy spirit,Son Jesus christ

Hi Lisa,
I could not believe when I read about your sickness and I said to myself it cannot be true.
Initially I thought I will write to you about my story in details, but when I started writing I realised it will be too large and decided to ask you for a favour to please call me or give me your contact details where I can reach you.
I am from Canada, living in Mississauga and working for Ontario Government. I know exactly what you are going through now because I was in the same situation three years before when I was diagnosed with fast growing level 3 (highest level) breast cancer with a mix of 3 and 4 stages. My treatment was done in Sunnybrook Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Eisen who is my Guardian Angel God sent specially for me. I will let you know everything if I get a chance to speak to you in person. Also I would like to give you some good tips for the chemo side effects as well as a medication which reduces the side effect. I am going to meet Dr. Andrea Eisen today for my regular follow up check-up and I will confirm about the medicine I was taking for the side effect. It is very expensive but I believe that should not be a problem for you.
Please note my contact details:
Home: 905-821-3998; Cell #: 647-330-5477; Office #: 416-235-3505 (between 10:00 and 4:00 p.m.)
E-mail Address: molcyphilip@gmail.com; molcy.philip@ontario.ca
Please do not ignore my request. I think together we can do many things. I also want to do something in return to the community for the graces I received from the God Almighty. I want to tell you the miracles happened in my life during the treatment time. I was back to work within eight months after mastectomy and 8 intense chemo sessions. Since I work near to Sunnybrook hospital, I used to go for my radiation from the office in between working hours. I used to drive to office and there is this help line available for transportation and they used to pick me up from office and drop me back to office. During this time I met many people who is suffering with different kinds of cancers. I used to hear some successful stories about recoveries and some very pity stories where some of them don’t have a supportive family like we all have. That made me realise how fortunate I am to have my beloved husband and my two lovely girls who were always my inspiration to live long and also my siblings and my parents as well as friends.
Since I had all the facilities and blessings I want to do something good for the people who are not that fortunate to go through these kinds of situation and I believe together we can do a lot. We have to be always grateful for the Canadian system where we have been treated fairly and provided so many facilities but imagine the people who are in India without any help from anywhere. Even the nurses here are so kind and loving and I never felt that I am going through such a big treatment because they make you so comfortable. I had a pick line for my chemo.
Be positive and be strong. I will pray for you everyday. I have full trust in my God and I am confident that you will overcome this and will live for a very long time. Since you are such a beautiful and legitimate human being, I am sure in future people will be referring your name to others who suffers with same kind of ailment.
God Bless You.
Molcy
Hi Lisa
I am sorry to hear about your condition but am happy to see your resolve and strength. I too think that the mind over body and a strong will can cure all.
Might I add my two cents:-
First, you could try alternative treatments such as Homeopathy and second (although you seem to be doing yoga) I have heard of the many benefits of taking the Art of Living – its benefits are unique to every person.
Hoping for the best
Close your eyes, open your heart
concentrate hard, get ready to start.
It is almost time to lift off and fly.
Believe in yourself and you’ll fly very high.
Open your wings, spread them out
This is what flying is all about.
I know you can make it through this test.
Come on now. Do your best.
Now that you can fly and soar,
You can enter that successful door.

Hey Lisa,
If you have ever read the book called the secret or watched the video you may know may just realise a wee bit about the powerful forces you have set into motion. There are 2 stories which may be of special importance to you. Theres the story of a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer and she decided to fight it & how. Apart from her treatment she created a mental image of her being completely cured and
happy. Then in order to reinforce it she would do stuff to make her feel happy the entire day like watch comedy all day long. She would do anything that she could associate with the feeling& happiness of having been healed and guess what cliche’d as it may sound but the cancer disappeared.
story 2 is about this young art director whose feng shui consultant noticed had paintings painted by him of naked women sort of looking down at him with a condescending look. When asked he said that he actually intended to improve his love life. So she asked him to go ahead and paint something which depicted that and 3 months later when she met him, he had suddenly started dating 3 women. Point here is that please dont paint your wall yellow… probably paint it a colour you associate with healing ..like say blue or even red for the regenration of your RBC’s.
Cant let you succumb so easily, i want you to lose your membership of the yellow MM club ASAP, girl.
After all its you who wrote ” Protect your identity and your dreams and what you want to be in a world that is at every point trying to make you something else”.
So go win the match with that MM and we are all here to support you and pray for you.
FIGHT !! FIGHT !! FIGHT !! FIGHT !! FIGHT !! FIGHT !!
Uday.
Hi Lisa,
About 3 yrs ago, after a photo shoot, I asked you were you flying back home to Canada. You abruptly informed me why do people follow you. I don’t have any grudges, it is fans like us who really give film stars in general their status.
I was going to interview at that time and due to time limitations we could not carry it through. I felt very hurt and more shocked.
I wish you recover as soon as possible and spread awareness for you are in a position to do so via the media as much as you can. You are doing a wonderful work already. I only pray and wish you only the best life has to offer and know you will pull through it.
I want to let you know, even with your abrupt comment, I said to myself, i wish “Water” wins an Oscar and more.
Life is so short that i have been battling an illness which can turn deadly due to food allergies. I understand your battle and pray for both the illness and other non curable ones there will be a cure.
I wish you a life filled with good health and remission of the cancer.
Lots of luv
Hey Lisa,
Not sure if this helps but here goes nothing…. not so long ago, I was terribly ill a rare fever i had contracted probably from an open cut somewhere. I was doing a 105. The only time I had touched a 3 digit figure
was on my Enfield and to my parent dismay not at college. Brevity is the soul of speech they say, so there I was struggling very hard and the doc advised hospitalisation or said I have’nt a hope. My body by then had shrunk to what you might describe as a small clothes hangar with a very big coat for my skin ofcourse. Any model (pun unintended 😉 ) would have given away all her fortune fo the size zero or probably size -1 if I might say, I had achieved. In between meals all I had the energy to do was to go back in to a coma.
However 2 things really helped me
1. I was lying in my grandma’s house and did not really know how my folks were taking care of the of my cleo my puppy.
i know for sure Bobcat would definitely help you there.
2. A purpose …an almost impossible task or dream people might say but a race I would loved to run that day. Usain Bolt running unchallenged to won the medal at another atheletics grand prix.
Your driven more ways than one for me to point out that.
Anyhow having you take me out for dinner is on my top 100 things to do bfore I turn 30. so hey you still have a couple of years to go… so I believe completely you will live till you see a day over 100 (years of your LIVING life on earth)

HI Lisa,
Really Sad to hear all that news. But with a confidence and a hope I m writing this personal message to you .
I think this is the time for you to See the great love of Lord Almighty.
I think you might have asked many of the following questions inside your mind.
* Why did God create Me?
* What is my ultimate destiny?
* God is the author and source Of our Lifes then Why Are We Sick And What Can We Do About It?
* Is It God’s Will To Heal?
If you have a desire to know the answer of these question, let me tell you that you will not die due to this disease.
Believe in GOD. GOD is still alive and he can change your life for ever.
With prayer let me conculde this message here. May God bless you.

Hi Lisa,
Keep up the good spirit to fight out against this disease, that’s the way to go!
Just to let you know that my sister in law, 22 years of age, was diagnosed with mesothelioma at 3rd stage and doctors had given a time frame of 3 to 6 months. we opted for Ozone therapy which is considered as alternative cancer treatment and not readily accepted by Medical science. It has been more then 2 years now and my sister in law is completely cured and out of it with good working life.
Around 1.5 years back based on our experience we suggested one lady around 58 years of age who was suffering from liver cancer staying in Canada and she opted for this type of an alternate treatment and her family is very pleased with the results.
PLEASE do not treat this as junk message coming from your fan. If you are interested feel free to drop email…
Hope that you get well soon.
Regards.
When all about you is black with gloom,
And all you feel is pending doom.
When your bones are racked with grim despair –
When every breath is a gasp for air.
Keep on going, though you need to grope,
For around the bend is a ray of hope.
A ray of hope is perhaps all that’s left,
As your will to live has been bereft.
You’ve lost it all, it’s just no use!
You can end it all, you need no excuse.
But throw away that piece of rope,
And give yourself a chance of hope.
Just give yourself another day,
Brushing aside what your thoughts may say.
This is your life and you can make a new start,
By ignoring the brain – just follow the heart.
Taking baby steps in order to cope,
And minute by minute you’ll build on your hope.
Build on your hope,. one day at a time,
Though the road be steep and hard to climb.
The hurts of the past – they should be dead.
The fears of the future are all in your head.
Just live in the present and refuse to mope
Your life will sparkle for you’re living in hope.

Very dear Lisa,
Every day now, I feel like talking to you… love does this kind of thing, you know! Lisa, when you got the diagnosis, you wrote that you were not sure if you should or not make it public. Some people told you that this revelation could damage your career. I think it could damage if people you work with expected from you to be an empty “acting machine”, nothing else. But this is not the case, right? Noone should intent to steal from you your right of being human. You are a human being, and human beings are exposed to all kinds of experiences. When you are working as an actress, you are not detached of your innermost self even playing a fictional character. The emotions you use to act come from your inside. That is why nobody has the right of asking you to be not you but a facade the societal rules/norms dictate about what is acceptable or not. Then you made the revelation and oppened this space to people who empathize with your person, experience, and cause come out with theirs. At the beginning you were not sure if your gesture could really make a difference. I have a story to you I heard many years ago that perhaps will give you a clear sense about the importance of what you have been doing by offering your personal journey to give a voice to others.
This is the story. There was a man who used to run along a beach every single day and every single day he noticed an old woman throwing back to the sea the star fishes that got stuck in the sad. Then, one day, he decided to stop and talk to the woman. He approached her:
“-Excuse me madam, may I ask you what you do every single day here?”
The woman said:
“- I am throwing to the sea the star fishes that cannot go back to the water without help.”
Then, he stared along the shore and saw countless star fishes in the same condition: stuck in the sand. So, he told to the woman:
“- Have you noticed that there are hundreds of thousands star fishes got stuck along the shore? You cannot save all of them! Don’t you think what you are doing is useless?”
The woman smiled and looked at his eyes for some time. Then told him:
“-Can you see that one I just saved a life? Ask it if what I do is not important!”
So Lisa, every time it happens you have any doubt about the difference it makes what you are doing here, remember that humble story and I am sure you will feel how extraordinary your gesture of openning this space has been. I can feel that you are doing it with your heart and it makes even more difference! You do care about people and you are helping to save so many lives besides giving a voice to so many others. I remember you saying in an interview: “I truly believe in like this love manifestation. If you put a certain intention out there it comes back to you.” … “I want to be able to tell the stories and give a voice to a character or a situation or a circunstance where normally those voices will not be heard!” Well, YOU CERTAINLY GOT YOUR WISH! Lisa, have a blessed day, as blessed as you are!
Take care and let to be taken care of your remarkable self!
Simone.
God why do these things happen to the best ones around us…i’m left in tears, don’t have words to express my tormented state of mind after hearing this news.you are such an angel.i love you so much.maybe i’m being such a pessimist but all i wanna tell you is that we have no access to our fate,it has all been scripted before.even human beings are like the actors in films they work in accordance to whatever has been scripted before, not even an inch more than that…you must be one of the most beautiful angels straight from paradise to have such optimism in you even when lifes being so unfare to you.can’t express my degree of love for you.i may just be a nobody to you but i don’t wanna see you leave…please dun leave…even if you do,i believe you’ll be the most beautiful star in the sky that’ll fall upon this planet again.so here i kneel down before you to tell you that “i love you Lisa Ray”…forever and always you’ll be embedded in my heart as the fallen angel who stole my heart and faded away.much love, avy.
(on an optimistic note)…”Har pal yahaan jee bhar jiyo jo hain sama…Kal ho na ho”
Love you tonnes.xox.mmmuaah.yew rawk.
Dear Fans and Friends
Ive been following the blog and also the following fan comments. As maintoined earlier that we should slow down and also start working/contributing for the same cause as Miss Ray has been workin on ‘Yellow Diaries and awareness to Multiple Myeloma’.
Ive some suggestions regardin the cause.
By posting the links here on blog is just one way of creating awarness, there are still alot of people who dont use or have the facility to use internet. We can help them by givin lectures about sign and symptoms of the disease, by distributin pumphlets descrbrin a little about the disease and may be by organisin some walk creatin awareness. This may be on a very smaller scale but even if these little things can save one life it worth doin.
Other thing as Im a doctor by profession ive strated doing some volunteer work in our Chemo ward. I only go for 2-3 hours a week because of my busy schedule and tiering routine plus ive a exam comin up aswell but jus to contribute to the cause ive started doin this. So you can help around people who are suffring from the disease. Im also workin on MM letreture and will be disrtibuting it to people InshaAllah soon.
Here are alot of people who can make beautiful Multimedia presentations and even can do beautiful editin of songs. They can contribute by making videos and songs.
So each one of us can contribute in the any way he/she can within the level of its expertise. If you guys have anyother suggestions please share.
Love and Prayers for Ray

The pursuit of happiness- What everybody is doing. Work towards being happy, always, i know what i am going to type, you know, but i hope the rephrasing will help provoke thought into the matter.
There is a delicate balance between things that make you happy. Others happiness and yours. But when such a question arises, dont you think we should re think the weights assigned to the happinesses? Pondering, Pondering, that is what i am doing. I am confused, and i am 21 to add to it. To what extant will you go to be happy? How does morality and lawfulness fit in this? Is it a delicate balance that we individually have to make decisions about? Or does mathematics and science, something that i have studied all my life, relativity and Einstien answer this for us discretely, something for only those who deserve to learn?
You are an inspiration!
Love,
Charanya
Hi Lisa,
I just wanted to say I LOVE your work. Up until last week, my husband had only seen 1 subtitled movie. I make him watch Water (which I’ve seen many times, and cry every darn time). At the end, he wiped a tear and said Holy Smoke, what a Great movie – and repeated the same words all night.

Dear Lisa,
I always felt an amazing closeness with you since I saw you very first time on TV. At that time I was in 7th or 8th standard. I always felt as if you were a sister to me. As I don’t have a real sister, I always had some kind of starving for a sister since my childhood, so I always have immense affection towards you as if you were my own sister.
So when I read on net that you have been diagnosed with cancer, it was a shock for me. I have a lot of photos of yours, but I never imagined that some day I would have them but not you in this world.
Life and death is in God’s hand. Believe in Krsna. He dwells in hearts of every living entity. He is in you too. By His grace one can conquer any diseases, and difficulties. He will help you fight cancer and will ease your pains.
I would like to share with you something that, I don’t know whether you would like or not, but this is my responsibility to revive it. You, being a daughter of a Hindu father, might be already knowing this all.
This seems harsh to accept, but it is a reality, a bitter truth, that we are all mortals, and some day we have to die, no matter how much we try to protect ourselves. We cannot live forever.
However, this is not a pessimistic or fatalistic view, because death comes to body. The soul, or the spirit within, never dies. We are not these bodies but the spirits within, which never take birth, never grow old, and never die. A soul remains unchanged even after taking millions of births.
Why we take birth? Why we come to this world, and pass through phases of happiness, sorrow, gains, loss, wellness and sickness? This all happens because we are bounded by our karmas, and desires. Because of our past deeds and unfulfilled desires, we come back again- and- again in life. If one does good karmas he elevates in his next life, and takes birth among well- to- do humans, and he gets everything whatever he desired in his past life. If one does bad karmas he falls downs and takes birth among the poor or animals. He than have to wait again till the next human life to satisfy his desires.
How long this continues? What is the final destination of such cycles of birth & deaths? The ultimate purpose of every soul is “Realization of Absolute Truth”, the realization that he or she is not a body but is an eternal part of Supreme God Lord Krsna.
The Absolute Truth is we all are eternal parts and parcels of the Lord Krsna. He is in every living being. He is everywhere. The ultimate goal of every soul is to become free from clutches of this material nature and reach Krsna’s Goloka. Whatever we learn and earn in this world is temporary, and is taken back by material nature at death. But the knowledge of Krsna is eternal, and remains forever with the spirit.
“Srimad Bhagvad Gita” is not just a spiritual book, but it is voice of Lord Krsna. Please read it to know “your” relationship with Krsna, who is the Supreme, “The Cause of all causes”.
But first you must have love for Krsna, than only you will be able to understand it. When Arjuna was down with compassion, and fear, he surrendered himself totally to Lord Krsna, saying him that whatever Lord would tell henceforth, he would consider everything as true. So, while reading Gita one must have 100% faith in Krsna.
But don’t worry. Analyze yourself, and you will surely find yourself in love with Him, as “you” are a part of Him. And once realized this, you will get the real purpose of the life.
Lord Krsna told in Gita: “Always think of Me and become My devotee. And you will surely come to Me, as you are My friend.” So leave everything on Him, and make Him your “Sarathi”.
I don’t know whether you would agree with this all, but I wrote to you because I love “you”, the soul within, the “real you”, not the body. And Krsna consciousness will give you the real satisfaction and bliss.
May Krsna bless you.
Nikhil
Dear Lisa,
Everything will be allright! Just have faith in god. We all are the creatures of god and it is the god alone who has the power over our life. I pray god that you be allright soon.
Meantime, do some humanitarian work for the poor, destitute and physically challenged human beings. Mark my words, the blessings of fellow human beings can bring about miracles in life. God lives in the heart of the poor and needy.
May your path be blessed. Write back.
Debajit from Delhi
“I hope that your journey is a long one…”
Dear Lisa,
Here’s a Greek poem (in translation) by Constantine P. Cavafy. I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as Wong Kar Wai soundtracks. Listen the recitation of the poem by Sean Connery and with music specially composed by Vangelis on YOU TUBE:
“Ithaca” (1910)
As you set out for Ithaca
hope that your journey is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians and Cyclops,
angry Poseidon – do not be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare sensation
touches your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians and Cyclops,
wild Poseidon-you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.
Hope that your journey is a long one.
May there be many summer mornings when,
with what pleasure, what joy,
you come into harbors you’re seeing for the first time;
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations
to buy fine things,
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
sensual perfume of every kind –
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
and may you visit many Egyptian cities
to learn and learn again from those who know.
Keep Ithaca always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you’re destined for.
But do not hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so that you’re old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaca to make you rich.
Ithaca gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you would not have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaca won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you’ll have understood by then what these Ithacas mean.
i cant for get u ,where ever u r i pray 4u.i believe that god be side u n protect u.i hope everything get fine n ok. i love u a loooooooooot.
Lisa,
I am an actress & director and was diagnosed with Leukemia on December 23rd, 2008. Have been in hospital in the US since 10 months. Maybe we can do something together with our respective experiences to create more awareness through the media?
Best regards,
Laila Wasti.
I’m following your Blogs fellow Moon face … tho women look so much prettier than we guys do.
I’m not currently a fan tho I’m sure I pic up your films in due time.
It sucks that you had to be inducted into the Cancer Club, let alone the MM group… its a particular nasty foe … but if it were something cool, ALL the stars and actresses would want MM… fact is… we were just lucky…no?
Be cool and God Bless
Paco

Dear Lisa,
I don’t know where to begin or what to say and although I cannot say I know what you are going through, I can say I understand.
A very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in May 2006. He is a year older to you and lives in Hyderabad, India. Seeing him remain positive over the past 3 1/2 years has given hope to the rest of us around him.
He has no regular access to the Internet bu if you do have the time, do drop a line and say Hello to him…I believe you might be able to help and support each other and I’m sure he would love to hear from you.
He is Raj btw.

if you find time , please reply.
Hi Lisa,
This is Deepak here from bangalore, Please do read below message on prority,
This is about cancer Killer Fruit..! (dpb)
You can try to get this fruit and have treament for cancer.
Please read about this miracle fruit that can kill cancer cells 100,000
times, more effective than chemo that gave you side effects.
Guyabano,…The Sour Sop Fruit
The Sour Sop or the fruit from the Graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo.
Why are we not aware of this?
Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale.
So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time.
The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects.
If you have the space, plant one in your garden.
The other parts of the tree are also useful.
The Next Time You Have A Fruit Juice, Ask For A Sour Sop.
How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?
This tree is low and is called Graviola in Brazil , Guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name “Soursop” in English.
The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.
The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects.
Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest.
This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.
Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.
If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree.
The truth is stunningly simple:
Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival.
The Future Has Never Looked More Promising.
Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life
The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, the fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970’s!
What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing…
Extracts from the tree were shown to:
* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including Colon, Breast, Prostate, Lung and Pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells.
It Does Not Harm Healthy Cells!
The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched– so why haven’t you heard anything about it?
If Graviola extract is as half as promising as it appears to be–
why doesn’t every single Oncologist at every major hospital insist on using it on all his or her patients?
The spine-chilling answer illustrates just how easily our health–
and for many, our very lives are controlled by money and power.
Graviola- -the plant that worked too well
One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.
Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indians in South America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis.
Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo.
But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.
The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make serious profits from it.
It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to
synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients.
If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back.
Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated.
There was no way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it poured into research.
As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt.
Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!
Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team
whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed.
Risking his career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.
Miracle Unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola, they began tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree.
Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking cover-up–came in fast and furious…..
….The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976.
The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public…
Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials- the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a
treatment’s value- -were ever initiated..
A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin…”
….The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched.
Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.
…A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers…
Seven Years Of Silence Broken–it’s Finally Here!
A limited supply of Graviola extract, grown and harvested by indigenous people in Brazil , is finally available in America .
The full Graviola Story–including where you can get it and how to use it–is included in Beyond Chemotherapy:
New Cancer Killers, Safe As Mother’s Milk,
a Health Sciences Institute FREE special bonus report on natural substances
that will effectively revolutionize the fight against cancer.
From breakthrough cancer and heart research and revolutionary Amazon Rainforest herbology to world-leading anti-aging research and nutritional medicine, every monthly Health Sciences Institute Member’s Alert puts in your hands today cures the rest of America –including your own doctor-is likely to find out only ten years from now.

Dear Lisa,
I think, the most difficult thing is to “face” something threatening to you. As for speaking openly about your “condition”, that means you are ready to fight on it.
Now, look at you, you are doing a good job !
I am deeply moved with your courage and bravery.
I enjoy your words which have something belonging to human being. Please keep on writing and make sure to take good care of yourself.

Hi Lisa, This is Priyanka from Kolkata, India. My father has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma last month & his treatment has just started. Doctors says its an incurable cancer but can be treated & kept under control. But I am scared as hell. Twice a day I have to check his blood sugar as the doctor has said that the drug has the tendency to elevate the sugar level, he has an immense pain in back, he has to take support while moving. I am & always has been a father’s daughter. I earnestly believe that whatever problem occurs, my baba can solve it in a moment. When I see him in this position I feel really helpless.
